One Be Lo was born Raland Scruggs, he also goes by “One Man Army”; just like our other A.O.T.W. is a Michigan native. One Be Lo was born and raised in Pontiac Mi; he began writing rhymes when he was in the 7th grade. When he leaves high school One Be Lo runs into some legal troubles and ends up in prison for 2 years. While in prison he embraces the nation of Islam; also changing his name to Nahshid Sulaiman. With the help of a fellow inmate Senim Silla they study the music business and open a group called Binary Star. Fresh out of prison Binary Star goes right to work releasing a 4 song EP entitled “New Hip Hop/1998” and an album entitled “Waterworld” in 1999.

In 2000 One Be Lo organized a production team “Trackezoids” and started a new movement/record label called Subterraneous. As an activist, One Man Army would speak to youth in schools, organize workshops, sit on a variety of panels, and work as an ally with student and community organizations across the U.S. Some albums that have been released are “R.e.b.i.r.t.h.” in 2007, while working in Seattle in ’08 he works on “B.a.b.y.” (Being a Black Youth). This multi-media project includes not only a documentary, a book, clothing, but toys as well. Being a black youth is not only a Bio of One Be Lo as a youth in Pontiac Michigan, but focuses on the many experiences of youth in school, amongst peers, family, the army, crime and much more all across America.

Some may call him a poet, or rapper, or even an alternative rapper but whatever you want to call One Be Lo you can definitely add F.A.D.E.D. to the list.
